1972 Northwest Player of the Year

Bob Cason

Quarterback

Seattle Cavaliers

Argued to be one of the fastest quarterbacks to ever play the position, Cason was a standout at Cleveland High in Seattle before a record setting career at the University of Puget Sound.  Received a tryout with the Washington Redskins in 1972 joining the Seattle Cavaliers upon his release and topping nearly every QB category for the 1973 season and earning All-League honors.

Posted four consecutive games with at least one rushing TD per game while passing for 9 TDs during the stretch.  He was the Cavalier Offensive Back of the Year for 1972 and 1974.

Bob opened the 1973 campaign with 12 TD passes and 3 rushing scores in the first four games of the season.  Cason would later set a record with 7 total touchdowns in a game on Oct 27, 1973 rushing for 2 scores and throwing 5 TD passes in the season finale before adding 1 more rushing score in a 6-0 win over the Seattle Bulldogs for the "city championship".  As great as his 1973 season was, he was nudged out of the Player of the Year spot by Pierce County Bengals wide receiver Ira Hammon.  Cason and Hammon would find themselves teammates on the Washington Redskins in July of 1974.
