Former Wharton County JC (TX) player Bobby Fritz began lighting up the Pacific Northwest Army League as a triple-threat (running, passing, punting) after the Bulldogs 0-3 start.  Defeating the Bremerton Yellowjackets for the first win of the season, Fritz then put on an aerial display with four TD passes and intercepted a pass which he returned 84 yards before being caught at the Fort Worden eight-yard line in a 28-6 victory.  The two-week stretch catapulted him into All-Army consideration.

1956 had Lieutenant Ed Sampson, former end at the University of Oklahoma during the Big 7 championship season of 1951 as coach.  Kenneth Hall, guard from Univ. of Indiana and Univ of Minnesota's Ed Dusbabek were members of Fort Lawton.
