The iNWFL operated as the lone eastern Washington league in 2004, but amidst allegations of corruption, fraud and unpaid bills stretching across four states, the ownership of the individual teams pulled up stakes and organized their own league, which would become the Evergreen Football League.

Commissioner Chuck Love attempted to salvage the iNWFL by keeping the name of the Yakima Scorpions which Chuck owned, in the league and creating the Kootenai County Eagles.  Other attempts to create teams failed, and the Yakima team approached the Pacific Northwest Football Conference about membership in 2006, but was denied entry.

The Scorpions and Eagles played out an abbreviated "league" schedule amongst themselves ending in the Eagles being crowned the final iNWFL champions with a 29-16 win over the Scorpions.

The Eagles folded and the Scorpions tried to play as an independent but gave up after only one game and the last anchor to the iNWFL faded into history.
