The Northwest Amateur Football League was formed in 1933 with the West Seattle Yellowjackets as the centerpiece.  The 'Jackets would dominate the league for 4 straight seasons before a new team, the Renton Rams appeared on the scene to steal the title away.

Yakima joined the league in 1935.  The league uses National Professional rules, which permit passing from the line of scrimmage or anywhere behind and tend to open up and speed up the game.

The Yellowjackets wrestled it away again in 1938, but Enumclaw, longtime nemesis of West Seattle would finally claim the championship in 1939 only to lose it the next season to a saavy group from the Boeing manufacturing plant in Seattle.  This team would use defense to win the championship going eight games without anyone crossing their goal line.

The Yellowjackets would claim the final Northwest Amateur Football championship before the league gave way to the War Industries Leagues which formed as the nation went to war in 1942.  1941 was also the last time the Yellowjackets were seen as the team dissolved into the Seattle Shipbuilders who were former Yellowjackets not taken up by the military.
