The Renton Sharks were sometimes referred to as the "Puget Sound Sharks" which led to some confusion with a team of the same name that tried to form in 1989 as a "developmental" team in Kent, Washington.

The Sharks struggled as a late fall edition with only other independent teams in the area available to play games.  The season was bookended with losses to fellow newly formed independent Cowlitz County out of southern Washington.  The Everett Tramps, winless in 1993 would rebrand as the Northwest Storm for 1994.

Late in the 1993 season, the Puget Sound (Renton) Sharks rebranded as the South King County Lions when they merged with the Issaquah Eagles for the 1994 season.  The merger produced a fairly competive team, avenging both Cavalier losses from the previous season, and relative upsets over the Vikings and Thunderbolts.  The Puget Sound Jets would knock the Lions from the playoffs enroute to a second consecutive NWFL title.

Future Hall of Famer Rob Diebold would move from the Sharks to the Bengals.  Kendall McFarland would go on to star with the Eastside Chiefs, when Coach "Ike" broke ranks to form the the team for the 1995 season playing two exhibition games against Canadian teams.  McFarland set an NWFL record as a Chief with four touchdown receptions against Bellingham in 1997.
