Defensive End/Outside Linebacker
1986-1995
In the late 90's, Broderick Thomas was a boisterous NFL
defensive end/outside linebacker who had a knack for coming
off the edge and wreaking havoc on quarterbacks and
offenses. Brian Thompson developed that same ability
as a somewhat undersized end, who could move to linebacker
and still be disruptive. At 6'2" and 210 lbs, his
athletic ability took him into opponents backfields quite
often where he racked up sacks, strips and fumble recoveries
for the better part of a decade.
Thompson finished 2nd in the NFA credited with 4 fumble
recoveries, and 9.5 sacks for the 1985 league season.
NFA Defensive Player of the Year in 1986 and 1987 with the
Panthers, Thompson was an All-NWFL selection with the
Bengals and Jets and remained one of the best defenders the
Northwest has seen. By 1990, Thompson was still
garnering All-America accolades as a defensive lineman.
