Justin Nixon
Missoula Raptors / Bitterroot Blaze
Running Back
2005 - 2010
The first GNFA inductee from the great state of Montana
couldn't go to a more deserving player in the new millenia.
Nixon, a native of Corvalis, Montana was the backbone of a
Bitterroot team that broke through with an undefeated 2007
season winning the RMFL AA Division.
Justin attended Walla Walla Community College before being
drafted in the 19th round of the MLB draft by the Oakland
A's in 1998 taking 81 at bats with the Arizona Athletics of
the minor league system that year. Justin was an
all-around outstanding athlete having his arm raised as a
State Champion wrestler at 178 lbs in 1996.
Getting his football start in 2005, Nixon was first on the
grid with the Missoula Raptors before a group of players
broke away to form the Blaze closer to home. From
there he led the RMFL in rushing, including a 259 yard
performance against those same Raptors in 2006. First
team All League four consecutive years, and RMFL Offensive
MVP for '06 and '07, Nixon carved his place in the
GNFA record books for rushing statistics, until a knee
injury ended his run as one of the best in the Northwest.
Justin still holds the #2 and #3 single game performances in
the Northwest behind only fellow Hall of Famer Chuck Jones'
298 yards set in a game in 1938. His name is sprinkled
elsewhere in the rushing annals of the GNFA record book for
game and season marks in rushing and scoring.
