Originating in the 9-man (NNFL) league, the Timberwolves conquered the league in 2001 and set it's sights on bigger game.   Playing and winning it's first 11-man game against the Douglas County Outlaws a few weeks after losing the 2002 NNFL championship to the Oregon Outlaws.

The team would change names and the Northwest Timberwolves were admitted as new members of the Oregon Football League during the 2003 expansion movement.  Starting out 5-0 including a record-worthy 95-6 annihilation of the first-year Eugene Red Dragons, the T-Wolves found themselves in the Championship game in year one, but again changing names to the Oakridge Timberwolves, floundered in 2004 to 1-5 before cutting the season off with two games left to go.  The drop was primarily due to the Eugene Dragons recruiting away nearly all of the Timberwolves top players included most of the 2003 All-League selections.  The Dragons would win the 2004 Oregon League Championship with much of the former Timberwolves roster.
