Ed Nowogrowski scored a TD in the 3rd Qtr to cap a 60-yard drive to top Tacoma 14-7 on Oct 3, 1937.  The Rams won the 1937 league championship after defeating the Yellowjackets on December 5th.  Enumclaw, 1-1 against the Rams during the season, but with a loss to West Seattle, invited Renton to the "Silver Bowl" the following week, winning 12-6 and making a claim to be the 'actual' leauge champions based on going 2-1 against the Rams and both teams posting 10-wins.  The league trophy stayed with Renton while Enumclaw kept the Silver Bowl trophy.  A Northwest Regional Championship with Montana's Anaconda was not played when financial details concerning costs of bringing the Anodes west could not be agreed upon.  John L. Sullivan played college ball at Montana Mines near Anaconda and spearheaded the challenge match.  Future GNFA Hall of Famer Brennan King double-dipped during the season, playing the early games with the Rams before starring for the Ubangi Blackhawks the remainder of the season.

Renton lost their first game of 1938 when a pass interference call put the ball on the 1-yd line for Tacoma who scored the winning touchdown after.  The season became a battle from there during a 4-6-1 season for the defending champions.  A four-game losing streak started with Tacoma and featured 3-consecutive 1-point losses before a tie with Kitsap halted the bleeding, but by then, the Rams were out of contention to repeat as league champions.

Former UW halfback Merle Miller was Renton's star in the 1939 backfield.

QB Elmer Soderquist had a punt blocked, and RHB Frank Tiano flopped on the ball in the endzone for a safety in the 2nd Qtr of a 2-0 loss to West Seattle to continue the 1940 slide.

Vic Cusworth would go on to play for the Seattle Bombers "pro" team in 1944.
