The Washington Raptors moved over to 11-man football after playing in
the NW8Man League for 3 seasons.
Due to a drop out of Pacific League teams, the Raptors were immediately
elevated to take the place of the Bearcats schedule. All four wins
on the season would come from non-PFL teams, while the seven league
games were blowout losses.
With the 2016 success against WSFL league teams, the Raptors made the
jump over to the smaller league. The only win of the season came
against a Tulalip Hawks team that had won both previous meetings.
The game was dubbed the "WSFL Championship" due to a drop out of
the Lakewood Lions, and Peninsula Eagles team and for the first time in
history a one-win team won it's league crown.
QB DeAndre Edmondson struggled throwing 18 interceptions and losing 8 of
10 fumbles during the 5 game season (averaging just shy of 5 turnovers
per game).
The 2018 squad opened with a tie versus the traveling Phoenix of Idaho,
before suffering through what would have been a winless season if not
for the last minute formation of the Sound Sound Bobcats. The
Raptors won both games by a total of 13 points enroute to a 2-6-1
season.
The Raptors opened a season with a victory for the first time in 2019 as
the Peninsula Eagles engaged in an entertaining 30-16 battle. But
that would be the end of the winning as the next game turned into a 57-0
rout in Yakima followed up by 2 more losses leading into the bye week.
The damage had been done. The Eagles folded up, canceling a June
29 match up and the July 6 game with Eastern Washington saw injuries
shorten the game to 2 quarters before officials called it due to player
safety. The Coyotes led 21-0 but it went in the books as a
forfeit. The Raptors season ended as a lack of healthy players
forced the forfeiture of the remaining games.
