The "Engineers" team was picked out of a contingent of soldiers based near Ellensburg, Washington and assigned to the 187th Army Air Corps during World War II.  The team sported a couple of well versed players in former University of Alabama end Carl Reaves and University of Pennsylvania tackle Ralph Beerbower.

Following a win over another Ellensburg Airbase team on Oct 31st, the following week, the Engineers took on the dominant Seattle Ironworks, formerly the West Seattle Yellowjackets, 14-time Champions of the Seattle and Northwest semi-pro scene.  The game was arranged by the Ellensburg Elks Lodge and would collect the proceeds of the charity game for the Ellensburg USO swimming pool fund.
