Fort Casey gave up football after the 1904 season in favor of the Gaelic version and baseball.  When war broke out in Europe, Fort Casey again found itself with football men and resurrected a team in 1917.  A reported game between Whatcom High and Second Company of Fort Casey in November was not the regular Ft. Casey team as Boyd, Powell, Carroll, Clark and Hill were barred from playing against the school boys.

In 1930 the uniforms of Fort Casey were sold to outfit the Coupeville High School team as football had again been shelved during the 1920's.

Once again as war broke out in 1941, Fort Casey used football as a physical and morale boost with the soldiers stationed there.  The team would be coached by 1937 Gonzaga captain Russell Haberman.  The Casey men took a beating on the chin when they faced argueably the best military team on the entire west coast when Camp Lewis, known as the Arkansas Travelers won 53-0.  The Tacoma team was slated to host California's Moffett Field Flyers for the championship but the attack on Pearl Harbor caused the cancellation.

The 1943 team featured former pro players Russell Gaffney (Brooklyn Dodgers) and Ted Saluda (Philadelphia Eagles) but still found cohesion and wins in short supply.
