One of two all black teams at Fort Lewis during World War II, the team would be coached by veteran boxing welterweight Frisco McGale who said "We're not going in for this fancy tricky stuff.  My system calls for hitting 'em so hard they wake up in the next county".   Lloyd Perkins bombed the second-longest punt in Northwest history at the time in the season opening loss to the Streaks.  Perkins launched a 70-yarder through the air that hit and bounced 20 more to the goal line where a Streak safety picked up the ball and got smothered at the 5-yard line.

Sporting new yellow jackets in November, the Bombers crushed the Medics intercepting three passes while Johnny Randolph took a punt 75-yards for a score and added a 50-yard kickoff return.  The Bombers were hoping to play the undefeated Indians to force another shot at the Streaks, but due to training in the field the game could not be played.  The Streaks would claim the title with a 4-0-1 record and unscored upon during the regular season.  The Bombers were to receive a post-season matchup with Powder River but it was called off.  Walter Harris, Perkins and 6'4" Louis Amory were the standouts for the season.

In 1943, the Streaks and Brown Bombers would be replaced by the Wolverines as the lone all black team at Fort Lewis.
