The Kirkland Bulldogs changed their name to the
Eastside Bulldogs in 1972, and again changed in 1973 to the Seattle
Bulldogs since their practices and most of their membership was from
Seattle. They were getting a reputation as a "gypsy" team with no
true home base of operations.
Wiley "The Toe" Duckett, Mike Ruddell, and Clarence
Coleman were Port Angeles teammates playing in 1964 now playing with the
Bulldogs.
Steve Waily, Chris Anderson and Paul Plushke (Lake Washington grads),
and Sammamish's Steve Wainwright were former KingCo League stars on the
Bulldogs.
After opening the 1971 season with a one-point loss to the BC Chargers,
Kirkland and the Chargers battled back and forth all season for the top
spot until a 3rd and final showdown in the second-to-last week of the
season. Kirkland took a 3-0 victory and the top spot on a 20-yard
field goal from Gary Harmon. Ron Mackie missed three for BC from
24, 30 and 35 yards.
Following the 1974 season the team became known as
the Seattle Titans.
