Playing an "Army-Navy" rivalry game on New Year's Day 1948, Puyallup Veterans divided into their respective service teams and played the first Raspberry Bowl Game to a 0-0 tie.

The Veterans, World War II vets, took on the Enumclaw Silver Barons to open their 1948 season in December in a two game set, splitting with the Barons.

The "Valley Vets" as they were sometimes called, took on the rugged Rainier Beach Ramblers, champions of the Northwest 175lb League in the 1949 Raspberry Bowl played on New Year's Day.  The game would be a fund raiser for the War Memorial Building Fund of Puyallup.  Wayne Brock, a former Puyallup High star and Pacific Lutheran Lute was the Vets primary weapon.
