After the Black and Tans/Ubangi Clubs
shut down, Glen Gianini took up the reigns of the football program,
fresh off the success of the 1938 softball champion "Brown Bombers", he
utilized the same moniker on the new entry into the 160-pound division
of the Community Football League being dominated by Issaquah.
Charles Winston was lost for the season due to an ankle injury against
Rainier, two days later fullback Danny Allen was hit by a car suffering
a serious shoulder injury. Then, on Oct 31, the snake-bitten
Bombers lost their star center 22-year old Paul Chappell who succumbed
to his battle with pneumonia contracted earlier in the month. The
grieving team came out and whitewashed White Center in honor of Paul.
Issaquah returned four interceptions for touchdowns in a 45-0 blowout in
wet conditions.
