Mark Meadows $5/Annually

John Manlowe spent about $2,400 outfitting his team for the 1942 War Industry League season.  A year later in his warehouse, packed neatly in big boxes:  24 football suits, 27 pairs of football shoes, sweat shirts, helmets, shoulder pads, socks - everything it takes to tog up a grid team.  But no team.  The league collapsed and he was left with gear he couldn't peddle to high schools which didn't have enough players to fill their own gear as America was fully engulfed in World War II.

Coached by Gonzaga legend Puggy Hunton, the Manlowes could not keep up with the Seattle and Portland area teams finishing 1-3-1.  Hunton coached the final Gonzaga University football game in 1941.
