The Tri City Rattlers dominated the iNWFL in 2004
posting three wins over it's closest competition Walla Walla.
Tragedy struck the Rattlers shortly after the season ended when popular
coach Bob Mars was stabbed to death on Sept 4th, 2004 by two teenagers
in an attempted robbery at the Kiona-Benton City Middle School.
Later it was discovered the attack was a gang initiation and planned,
Coach Mars was just the random victim selected. The staff decided
the "perfect season" would be their last as a tribute to Coach Mars and
all agreed to shut down the team.
When the INWFL disbanded, so too did the Tri-City Rattlers. After
the Evergreen Football League formed, a new team was established for the
area called the Tri City Knights under completely new ownership.
