Willie Daigle
Spokane Goldenhawks, Spokane Fury, Auburn
Panthers, Pierce County Bengals
1979 - 1994
Defensive Back/Wide Receiver/Return Specialist
If the title "journeyman" was ever more
fitting for a player in Pacific Northwest history, Daigle
would be the man on the poster. Beginning with the Spokane
Goldenhawks in 1979, Willie held down both sides of the ball
for half-a-decade, before making his way to the west side of the
state with the legendary Auburn Panthers and finally with
the Pierce County Bengals retiring at the age of 42.
Under Head Coach Terry Dion, Daigle
served as the Panthers defensive backs and linebackers
player/coach for the 1986 season after finishing in a tie
for 5th in the league with 6 pass break ups in 1985.
Teammate Greg Henderson led the league with 10.
Even in his forties, Daigle was a threat
scoring a pick six on defense and catching a TD pass as a
wide receiver.
