If there
was a minor league Rookie of the Year, Stockton would
have won that as well with his break-out season with the
2011 Okanogan Commandos. The nephew of NBA legend
John Stockton, Steve made his own name by shattering the
GNFA record for catches in a season with 86, besting the
73 recorded by Kyle English in 2008.
The heart
and soul of a new found aerial attack for the Okanogan
Commandos, Stockton led his team to the Washington
Football League Championship while accounting for 1,309
yards receiving, #2 All-Time, and 14 touchdowns tied for
6th All-Time with the legendary Ronald Baines.
Okanogan had never reached a Championship game in it's
seven year existence until 2011 and Steve's huge season.
Earning
First-Team All-GNFA, Stockton let it be known that he
will be a force to contend with in the region for years
to come.
Al Camp;
Reporter for the Omak-Okanogan County Chronicle had to
say about Stockton:
"I've covered Steve since he arrived as a Commando, and
he's been a gentleman in every sense of the word. What
always struck me as amazing is that someone six foot
tall could have so many catches and get free so often.
The rapport and synergy between Steve and quarterback
Iain Ashley is something you view few times in a
lifetime of covering sports. My cap is off to Steve, his
football record and career thus far with the Commandos."
