appreciated! The Knights started out in the InterMountain 9-man Contact League in '92-'93 before the league switched to 11-man football in 1994. The Knights would attempt to reform in April 1997 in what was going to be the Montana Football League and was to include the Butte Outlaws, Billings Knights, Bozeman Kodiaks, Flathead Valley Wolves, Missoula Mountaineers and Great Falls Eagles. The American Football Association was expected to support the league under the umbrella of a National organization of leagues with a playoff and championship structure, but the AFA backed away in August 1997 when questions about the teams expected to play appeared unstable. The Kodiaks and Knights would play three games as independent teams with Bozeman winning all three and "claimed" the Montana League championship as an unofficial 2-team league when the Outlaws, Wolves, Mountaineers, and Eagles failed to put to teams on the field. After the season ended the Knights changed names to the Billings Dragons and attempted to reform the InterMountain League for the 1998 season. DO YOU HAVE INFORMATION TO CONTRIBUTE? CONTACT US!
