Created in 2013 by former Columbia Basin Riverhawks assistant Don Johnson, a May of 2012 press release stated that the formation of the team was prompted by a desire to change things up from the Riverhawks organization and that Johnson would be joined by at least four other former 'Hawk players. They would not actively recruit any other former 'Hawks instead hoping to draw out new players in the region not currently involved in semi-pro football. Columbia Basin had suffered a 2-27 run over the prior four seasons.

As with the previous incarnations of Moses Lake area teams over the past decade, interest was minimal and the team never really came together and had to cancel all games it had scheduled for 2013 as an independent team. Coincidentally, the Riverhawks franchise would suffer a similar fate playing only three of it's first four games and forfeiting the final four as a member of the Washington Football League folding up prior to a May 4th game.
