The Lakewood Wolves formed in 2007 as a split from
the Pierce County
Knights.
2007 started off ironically, the same way it would
finish, with the Wolves forfeiting games. A schedule early season
match up with the Mustangs foreshadowed what was to come as the Wolves
played five games before running into financial problems and a reported
mutiny of players and coaches against Rich Winkle.
The final four games were forfeited and the Wolves
run as a viable team was finished. Many of the players would find
their way to the
Tacoma Invaders.
