The Bonecrushers are first noted playing in a charity game for the Olympic Peninsula Shrine Hospital on December 15th, 1935 at Roosevelt High.  The opponent would be the Port Townsend Cougars, a regular in the Seattle-area semi-pro scene.  The Cougars took the first game 7-0, and the return match 9-0.

The community enjoyed the games to such a point, that advocates for a town team found their wishes finally fulfilled in 1937 with the formation of the Port Angeles Vikings.

Though the Vikings did not last, they kept the football fervor alive, and during World War II the community would support the Port Angeles Commandos Coast Guard team, and following the war, the Port Angeles Stags.
