1929 Players: O'Keefe (T), Wheeler (HB)
O'Keefe and Wheeler were selected by Chuck Cosgrove of Mount Scott to
represent the Firemen in the All-Stars vs Bachelors game.
Coach Byron Anderson switched allegiance from the St Johns Bachelors to
the Firemen squad to enter the Oregon-Washington League. Anderson
recruited a number of his former Bachelor players including
hard-charging former University of Oregon star fullback Lynn Jones.
Anderson and Jones led the Firemen to a Co-Championship with the
Bachelors splitting a tying in three bouts. Jones would be the
deciding factor in two games as the closing minutes approached, one, a
60-yard catch and run for a TD, the other a 50-yard INT return to down
Vancouver.
