Schneider
exploded onto the Northwest Semi-Pro scene in 2008 as a
rookie with the Oregon Monarchs, after toiling at
Portland State University. Coming off a rocky
season opener and losing 2 of their first 3 games,
Russell and the Monarchs settled in winning 9 straight.
Schneider finished the spring season with a record 3,312
yards passing and 44 touchdowns, also a regional record,
leading his Monarchs to an OFL Championship and GNFA
Championship victory over the #1 ranked Blue Mountain
Stars.
Not
finished, Schneider climbed aboard the East County
Blackshirts in the summer time North American Football
League, and led them to the playoffs in their first
season. He again topped the 3,000 yard mark and 38
touchdown tosses. He also booted 20 extra points
for the Blackshirts.
His over
6,300 yards passing and 82 touchdown tosses in 25 games
(21-4 overall record), will stand as one of the best
Quarterback performances in a calendar year for a long
time to come.
