Thurston County began formation playing the Pacific Lutheran College Junior Varsity squad in late 1974 adding an independent game with the Whatcom Lakers demolishing the northerners 36-0. The Vikings followed that up with a heart-stopping 2-0 win over the Seattle Bulldogs when a bobbled punt snap resulted in the punter being tackled in the end zone.  A 16-yard sack loss on the play before by Steve DeMiero set the Bulldogs on their own one yard line for the fourth down kick.

The Vikings started the 1975 Northwest International League season with a promising 4-game win streak before closing out with 3 straight losses.  Dave Greenwood was the top receiver from his tight end position.

In 1976 the nomadic Vikings had no true "home" stadium and finished 5-5 with a win over the Seattle Titans in the regular season finale.  The players voted to forego the playoff game against the unbeaten Pierce County Bengals, a team the Vikings had lost to three times in the past two years.  The Vikings folded after the season with a 12-11 record over 2 seasons in the NWIFL and one as an independent.  Jim Johnson and Alan Ketter each had 3 interceptions in the opening rout of the Lakers setting then Northwest International League records.  Mason Elvrom accounted for five touchdowns in a 69-13 victory over the Ramblers on four rushing scores and a 57-yard punt return score.

Former 1975 Green Bay Packer draft pick and former University of Washington defensive end Bob Martin signed on for the '75 season before making the 1976-77 Calgary Stampeders franchise.
