Stefan Branham - 2023 GNFA Player of the Year
Created in 2022 for entry into the Gridiron Developmental League, the
Knights struggled to find footing in the Tacoma-heavy league dominated
by the Rebels and Warriors. Will Conrad came to the Knights as
head coach after holding the same position with the Tacoma Sabers in
2021.
The Knights would split with the Tacoma Sabers, and a 16-13 win over the
Everett Royals allowed the 3-5 team to back into a playoff rematch with
the West Sound Rebels for better or worse. It was only slightly
"better" as the Rebels won back-to-back games over Grit City by a
combined 100-0.
With the Sabers out, Grit City looked to improve in 2023, which they
did, but still fell far behind the Rebels and suffered a crushing
playoff defeat at the hands of the South Lane Buzzards where the
offensive firepower disappeared in the final two games.
On the bright side, Stefan Branham earned GNFA Player of the Year honors
as the top multi-threat player in the run, pass and return game for the
Knights.
