Mike Thomas, a 9-year veteran player in the semi-pro ranks ventured into ownership waters and created the Royals beginning the process in late 2019. 2020 Covid restrictions put the team on hold, finally debuting in the Washington State Football League in May of 2021.
The Royals kicked off the 2021 season against the Tacoma Sabers, eventual WSFL runners-up and the independent Spokane Wolfpack losing both outings. A canceled game with Yakima too Everett into June where the franchise won its first game 26-20 over the Seattle Bombers. The hapless Vikings were next in their only outing of the season before folding after the 47-0 defeat. Another meeting with the Bombers resulted in the three Royals wins for the season. Team owners announced a move to the east coast-based GDFL after the season.
The move would be a rocky one, as the Royals would not win a regular league game going 0-8. The Royals would take on an Alaska team in non-league action at home taking an overtime victory on a field goal as well as posting non-league victories in a home-and-home series with the Spokane Wolfpack.
An expected return game up in Alaska did not come off as planned for the 2023 season, instead being pushed to 2024. With expansion and realignment of the GDFL divisions, the Royals found themselves without defending Division Champion West Sound on the schedule, but the return of old WSFL foe South Sound Seminoles and perennial Oregon power South Lane Buzzards in the lineup. Starting off the season 2-0, it was those Buzzards who doled out a set back before Everett went on a 6-0 run including a regular season finale win to secure the Impact East Division crown. A playoff win over Spokane meant a road trip to California to take on long-time powerhouse Inglewood Blackhawks. The Blackhawks had ousted the West Sound Rebels from the 2022 playoffs, and once again, they ended a Washington teams hopes of advancement in a 37-0 shutout win.
