SPOKANE WOLFPACK
(2009 - 2025)

The Wolfpack was born out of the merger of longtime rivals in the State Line Miners and Spokane SaberCats in 2009 and became one of the longest operating franchises in the Pacific Northwest.  Almost immediately the Wolfpack became a force in the Washington Football League and after a couple of stumbles, reached the first-ever WFL Championship losing a tight battle with the Rams 14-7.

2009 Wolfpack Team Photo
Looking to build on the WFL Championship game run of 2009 the Wolfpack were a bit shaky in an early game losing to the Thunder, but came back to dispatch the Riverhawks and Shockers.  Back-to-back losses to the Rams and Commandos set a theme in the WFL as teams played round-robin winning against each other and it wasn't until the final week that Spokane earned enough points for a #4 seed in the WFL playoffs.  The game would be a rematch from the season finale as Spokane battled the Hurricanes for 4 quarters unable to score in the second half of a 13-19 playoff loss that sent Hermiston to the championship and Spokane home for the summer.  2011 would repeat the formula with the Rams taking a one-point regular season win, followed by a playoff 7-point win to end the season for the Wolfpack during a 7-3 campaign.

2012 would shift back to the Hurricanes ending the Wolfpack playoff run 23-21, after taking a 22-21 win during the regular season from Spokane's 4-3 season.  2013 flipped back to Wenatchee, following a 37-31 win over Waitsburg to reach the championship game, the Rams eeked out a 7-6 victory for the WFL title.  Since 2009, Spokane's season ended with a 7-point championship loss, 6-point playoff loss, 7-point playoff loss, 2-point playoff loss and 1-point championship loss, all at the hands of either Wenatchee or Hermiston.  The Wolfpack just could not close those final drives.

The 2014 team made the unique choice of splitting it's squad into "Alpha" and "Omega" and playing two opponents.  The Alphas took on the Rams in a non-league game while the Omegas took on the Palouse Thunder.  The Alphas lost their game, while the Omegas defeated Palouse.  When the regular season commenced, the Wolfpack lit up the scoreboards averaging 51-points per game going 5-0.  Undefeated and in the WFL championship game for a third time against the Rams, this had to be the time.  But the Rams once again, dashed the 'Pack hopes of hoisting the league title with a 37-34 win.  Another single digit loss to end a Spokane season.

As 2015 kicked off, all eyes were on the Rams and Wolfpack as the top contenders for the WFL championship.  That's exactly how the season would play out, but without the suspense of previous seasons.  All three Wolfpack losses on the year would be by Ram hands, but no game closer than 14-points.  The Rams outscored Spokane 99-36 in the three games combined while the Wolfpack went 7-0 against all other opponents.  The WFL would end that year, and the Wolfpack would join the Western Washington Football Alliance in 2016 along with the Rams and Tri City Rage as Eastern Washington representatives.  2016 would be a rough outing for Spokane and the first losing season in franchise history.  The 2017 'Pack rebounded to winning football with a 6-3 season, but suffered book-end losses to the Rage to start and finish the season.

Following back-to-back four-win seasons in 2018 and 2019, Spokane suffered through the Covid-era lockdowns in Washington with no season in 2020 and only getting in one game as an independent franchise in 2021.  Winning that game against the Everett Royals, Spokane endured a similar fate as a planned member of the 2022 Washington State League, however, with the formation of the Gridiron Development League in Tacoma, the Wolfpack stood alone in the WSFL to start the season, opting for another independent status, the Wolfpack trudged through a 1-4 campaign.

The Wolfpack were granted membership in the GDFL for the 2023 season and was in the mix of the Top 4-5 teams finishing in a three-way tie with other 4-5 teams on the season, dropping a playoff loss to Everett in the opening round, their fourth straight loss to the Royals on the season.

The league switched from the GDFL, to the newly formed West Coast Pacific Minor Football League for the 2024 season and again the Wolfpack finished with four wins and the title of the North Division Champions but were once again ousted from the playoffs by Everett in the opening round.
