Formed at the 11th hour of the Washington State Football League
season kickoff, the team that would come to have many names, these
yellow and white "Bobcats" took the place of a
Thunder team that couldn't get on the
field.
As expected, the Bobcats failed to put up much of a fight with the
exception of a tight rivalry with the
Washington Raptors, finishing the season 0-6.
The Bobcats rebranded for the 2019 season as the King County
Predators. Following an 0-2 start to the season, the Predators
scraped together back-to-back victories against the
Eagles and Raptors heading into the
bye week. League leaders Tulalip
and Yakima blanked King County in
successive weeks before a two-week run of forfeits from the Eagles
and Raptors set up a scenario where the WSFL bumped up the
playoffs by a week. With King County the automatic #3 seed,
the Predators with additional players from the Raptors, upset the
Tulalip Hawks 18-16. The Hawks had won both previous outings
by a combined 59-12. The Predators then took on the Eastern
Washington Coyotes for the championship, losing 35-14.
The team again rebranded for 2020 as the South Sound Seminoles
taking the Florida State University color schemes and played their
first post-Covid game on Aug 1 against the Tri
City Rage dropping a 36-6 decision. That would be their
last loss, as they roared through the WSFL delayed season winning
the championship over the Northwest
Hurricanes.
2021 was another touch-and-go affair for the WSFL and Seminoles as
Covid-related issues remained in the state. A surprising loss
to Oregon's Rose City Swarm to start the season and a back-and-forth
battle with the Tacoma Sabers all
season long, came to a head in August with the Sabers and Seminoles
meeting for the third time. South Sound came away victorious
holding the Sabers out of the endzone as time expired to win their
second WSFL crown.
With the formation of the Gridiron League and three new regional
teams, the Seminoles took a pause for the 2022 season. Once
the 2022 GDFL season came to a close, the Tacoma Sabers were
scrapped and the Seminoles resurrected for entry in the 2023 GDFL
season under their fourth designation as the "Seattle Seminoles",
going away from "South Sound".
Following a 2-5 season in 2023, the Seminoles did not return as
the South Sound Nighthawks made their
return for the 2024 season.
