The Idaho Phoenix played primarily as an independent team out of the Boise area and were noted for traveling long distances to meet opponents.  Playing outdoor, indoor, 11-man, 9-man and 8-man games depending on the opponent, games were sparse and inconsistent until they joined the Idaho Football Alliance, a short-lived league in 2019 that saw the Phoenix continue to struggle with consistent schedules and player availability.  Only four games were completed in a 1-3 campaign before the team drifted away with little announcement.

The best season for the franchise was 2018, finishing with a 4-4-1 record, the tie coming on a long trip to Everett, Washington to take on the Raptors.  Two teams played out of the region with the Phoenix name as the Canyon Phoenix were members of the Idaho Contact Football League from 2015 to 2018.  The Phoenix played against the Logan Stampede in a benefit game called the "Wonder Game" for Mataya Conteras, a young girl requiring medical treatment at Shriner's Hospital.  Over the course of the franchise, many games were played as benefit games for children with medical needs, while also mentoring a youth team called the Idaho Falls Phoenix.
