KOOTENAI COUNTY EAGLES
(2005)

The Eagles were a one-year venture associated with Chuck Love and the Inland Northwest Football League which consisted of only two teams in 2005.  The league, created in 2004 faced a massive revolt against Love in the offseason that led to the creation of the Evergreen Football League as all the former INWFL teams with the exception of the Scorpions leaving.

Members of the team presented a signed helmet and football to the wife of police officer Michael Kralicek, dedicating the season to him after he was near-fatally injured in a shootout in December of 2004.  K57, Kralicek's radio call number was affixed to the players' helmets during the 2005 season.

The "INWFL Championship" game was in essence a rubber match between the lone teams in the league who had split games on successive weeks in April.  The Eagles defeated the Yakima Scorpions and claimed the title of "INWFL Champions" in June.  The Eagles played extra games against Rocky Mountain League and Northwest League teams losing all four.

Facing pressure from two Spokane area teams also playing in 2005 (State Line Miners and Spokane SaberCats) and an uncertain future, the Eagles did not return in 2006.  The Miners would play out of Rathdrum, Idaho in 2007 mere minutes north of Couer 'dAlene.  The Miners and SaberCats would merge in 2009 to form the Spokane Wolfpack.
