A one-season venture in 2014 following the closure of the Missoula Phoenix franchise, the Blaze featured many of the Phoenix standouts including future GNFA Hall of Famer Shane Jurasek at quarterback and former Glacier Knight star running back Mike Kuehne and played at the University of Montana's Grizzly Stadium.  Behind a stand-out offensive line, the Blaze rolled out to a 7-1 record in the Rocky Mountain League AAA Division.  Montana ran the table against their in-state rivals and only Utah's Revolution stalled the momentum as the Blaze captured the RMFL Montana Division crown.  It would take another Utah team in the playoffs to finally stop the Blaze run in 2014 as Montana fell for the second time of the season to a Utah team 34-16.

Jurasek passed for over 2100 yards on the season with 23 touchdowns, 13 of which went to Ceylon Elgin-Taylor on his way to 872 receiving yards.  Elgin-Taylor placed himself in the GNFA record books in 2012 with the Bitterroot Blaze catching 16 scoring strikes (tied for 6th all-time in a season) when he and Jurasek teamed up to lead Bitterroot to the RMFL AA League championship.  Jurasek during his career etched his name in numerous regional record passing categories including over 28,000 career passing yards.

Talk of the Blaze returning to the field in 2018 was put to rest on December 29th, 2017 instead the Missoula Rage would be attempting to form but fell short of getting enough players interested.
