Glenn Benoit moved to Everett, Washington from Oklahoma and the former quarterback saw a need for an additional team in Snohomish County. Together with Kervin Anderson, a Sno-King Blue Knights coach for six years and at Evergreen High set out to create the "Tramps" in March of 1993. Mike Astley kicked an NWFL record 57-yard FG on Sep 12, 1993 in the Harvest Bowl against the Sno-King Blue Knights. The team suffered a winless season including what ended up being a season-ending exhibition game with the Cowlitz County Cavaliers where only 8 members made it to the Sep 25 game against independent Cowlitz County in what was the Cavs home debut, falling 46-0 with a mixed squad in what turned into a forfeit loss by the Tramps but played to the fans in attendance. Following the 1993 season, the Tramps tried a name change in
hopes of turning their luck around becoming the Northwest Storm
While a splinter group broke away to form the
Sky Valley Vikings which included
future Hall of Famer Wes Fischer.
To Coach Benoit's dismay the Storm continued it's losing ways going
winless just as the Tramps had a season earlier, eventually
forfeiting to the Cavaliers once again to end the season when the franchise
folded. DO YOU HAVE INFORMATION TO CONTRIBUTE? CONTACT US! (email)
