Following his departure from the Monarchs as head coach, Aaron Fentress
was tabbed to lead the PDFL's newest Northwest edition of a team.
Bringing most of the Portland Monarchs stars, it was expected that
Portland could salvage the floundering PDFL along with remaining solid
member Tacoma. However the teams brought in to play
"professionally" were less than ready for prime time. Boise and
New Mexico collapsed early. Utah found the travel to be too
expensive and make shift opponents from the WWFA were put in place where
they could.
The PDFL playoffs were scrapped following the Boltz win over the Cobras
on June 15 and Portland was declared the champions of the now 2-team
league. The PDFL was over.
The team would seek to blend itself with the
Portland Raiders as the Monarchs had shut down operations following
the 2013 season.
