Robert Mulligan played for the Kitsap County Chiefs and following the break up of the team, founded and coached the Kings during the tumultous split of leagues following the Pierce County Bengals dominance of the 1970's.

Qunicy Frank picked off Skagit Valley three times, while outside linebacker Mike Witherspoon dominated September recording 52 tackles in three weeks.

Overcoming an 0-3 start to the 1980 season, the Kings won their final three games, including the title game against Skagit Valley in overtime for the newly created Northwest International Alliance Championship with a .500 record.   John Adair, a long-time Northwest place kicker was selected to play in the All-Star game in November along with a number of teammates including Scott Lee, Jeff Johnson, Eric Moritz, Vance Evans, and others.

The Alliance became the Northwest International League in 1981 and again the Kings were .500 going into a playoff game with the Seattle Cavaliers.  The Kings ended up on the opposite side of the score from the year before, and were ousted from the playoffs 11-10.

A rising Oregon City Steelheads team and a number of close losses dropped the 1982 team to 1-7.  The Kings shut down following the end of the season.
