Created in 2014 by former Washington Cavalier player and Head Coach
James King fresh off leading the team to the WWFA crown, the Mayhem
debuted with a 3-5 record and appearance in the WWFA playoffs.
King and the Mayhem would struggle through 4-consecutive three-win
seasons before finally breaking out in 2018. That season, the WWFA
absorbed the teams from the Pacific League and formed three divisions.
The Mayhem found themselves in Division III and rolled to a 7-1 record
before being bounced by Division I foe Spokane.
When the NWFL reformed in 2019, King, a former Pierce County Bengal
under Ron Baines, joined with his former mentor entering the Mayhem in
the 6-team league along with the Bengals and Cavaliers.
Inconceivably, Thurston County reverted back to a 3-win team for the
fifth time in six seasons after having started the season 3-1. Two
games were no contests due to opponent forfeits while Thurston hit a
5-game skid which included back-to-back losses to the Northwest
Hurricanes in the regular season finale and first round playoff game.
A planned return in 2020 never came to fruition as Covid-19 shut down
the season, the league and the future for the Mayhem franchise.
