Born out of a merger between the Idaho Matadors and the Boise Speed franchises after the 2008 season, the Spartan franchise begn operating split squads in the Rocky Mountain Football League interchanging players as necessary in the AAA and AA divisions of the RMFL.  The AA Spartans were originally to dubbed the Boise Bombers, but instead utilizing identical uniforms, played both under the Spartans moniker.

This record reflects the AAA division team that played from 2009 through the 2012 seasons.  The AA Division team will be listed on the Bomber/Spartan page.

2009 featured a playoff appearance after a 5-3 regular season and a second loss to the Blaze capping a three-game season end skid, all three losses by a total of fifteen points.  Future Hall of Famer Zac Jockumsen was once again a finalist for RMFL Defensive Player of the Year, an honor he won in 2008 with the Boise Speed.

The Spartans would nearly ascend the ladder in 2010 with the best performance in franchise history.  Opening the season with sweeping wins over three of Utah's best including defending champion Wasatch, Treasure Valley rolled to a 9-0 regular season and would face the Utah Shock in the opening round of playoffs, a team they had defeated 31-20 in week five.  The Shock lived up their name with a 27-19 upset ending the Spartans perfect season.  Jockumsen was named the RMFL Defensive Player of the Year, his second in three seasons and fifth of his career.

Treasure Valley got out to 2-0 start for the 2011 season before suffering a one-point setback to the Utah Bears, that was followed by an eight point loss to the Dixie Rebels.  Alternating wins and losses to finish the regular season, including a 6-point loss to the Shock, the 4-4 Spartans found themselves one week later facing the Shock again in the opening round of the playoffs and for the third consecutive meeting, Utah walked away victorious having ended the Spartan season once again.

Once again, out to a 3-0 start in 2012, it was the Utah teams and for the fourth time in a row, the Shock having Treasure Valley's number that dropped the maroon and gray to 4-2.  The Spartans would lose their final two games of the 2012 season to end at .500 in league play and miss the RMFL playoffs.

The Spartan franchise closed down operations after 2012 with the core of players migrating to the Boise Generals who with the additions, rolled to the RMFL AA championship undefeated for the 2013 season.

Former lineman Todd Rietmann, would play two more seasons with the Boise Roughriders and was inducted into the Minor League Football Hall of Fame in 2019 and Jockumsen was inducted into the GNFA Hall of Fame in 2021.
