With the merger of the Blackfoot Dragons and Rocky Mountain Bulls, the Cobras were born..

The merger was not what they hoped as the franchise won only four games in three seasons and by 2002 became one of the worst teams in the history of the region, becoming the first team to give up over 500 points while only scoring 2 the entire season.
