Largely thought of as THE team in the Idaho Contact Football League since 2019, the Black Tide got it's start in 2009 when the ICFL was a 9-man league.  The ICFL shifted into the 11-man league it is today in 2015 and after a rough start during a 3-6 season, the Tide began to roll into the dominant team along with the Idaho Tribe.  For three years from 2016-2018 the Tribe ousted the Black Tide from the playoffs and the 2018 ICFL Championship completing a four-year run as ICFL Champions.  The Tribe disbanded and from there Jeff Gunn and the Tide became the team to beat appearing in six consective ICFL title games from 2018 to 2023.  For the first time in 2024, the Tide did not make the title game completing a 43-3 run from 2019 to 2023.  The 5-3 finish in 2024 matched the loss total from that entire previous run.

Breaking through in 2019, the Tide went undefeated and claimed their first ICFL Championship with a one-point victory over the Treasure Valley Trojans, one year removed from losing the 2018 title by a point 41-40 to the Tribe.  Following the season, WR Zach Peterson was invited to take part in The Spring League in Austin, Texas after his 61 catch, 952 yard and 18 TD performance with the Tide in 2019.  Ten players were honored with First Team All-League honors

2020 kicked off with a merger of Eastern Idaho teams into the ICFL, and after dominating and claiming the West Division crown, the Tide were again in the title game, however they faced former Rocky Mountain League original Idaho Falls Mustangs.  The Mustangs were a buzz saw and took the crown in a 46-6 blowout and the Tide finished 7-1.  Jeff Gunn was named Co-Coach of the Year by the ICFL and eleven players earned All-ICFL West Division honors.

Absorbing the Idaho Alliance teams in 2021, the ICFL expanded again and the Tide looked to make their way to the title game for a fourth consecutive season.  Rolling through the first three games, the unthinkable happened when Montana's Flathead Monsters stole away a 28-25 win, the first regular season loss dating back to 2018 in the season opener against the Tribe.  Sitting at 8-1 after a dominant opening round playoff win over the Duckz, The Boise Savge, twice defeated by the Tide during the regular season, clawed at the Black Tide before dropping a one-point semi-final loss to send the Tide back to a rematch with the Mustangs.  The Mustangs were not the team from 2020...they were even better and steamrolled the Tide 68-0 to claim back-to-back ICFL crowns.

With the formation of a new league between Eastern Idaho and Utah teams, the ICFL contracted to resemble more of the 2019 lineup when 2022 kicked off and the Tide was once again dominating opponents to a 10-0 finish.  The Mustangs had left, and the Duckz claimed a spot in the title game opposite the tide but could not generate any offense, falling 24-3.  30 members of the Tide made All-League teams dominating all positions.

2023 continued a renewed win streak and back-to-back 10-win seasons as the Black Tide won the '23 title again, their third ICFL Crown.

Set backs are expected and 2024 slipped below standards when the 24-game winning streak was ended by the Idaho Matadors.  The Boise Aztecs would take the regular season finale, and the Matadors again knocked off the Tide in the playoff opener to send the Black Tide to a 5-3 finish, it's first 3-loss season since 2016.
