A charter member of the Portland-based Pacific Northwest Football League
(PNFL), the Washington Sentinels won the inaugural winter championship
over the Rip City Mafia.
Playing a second season mere months later, in the summer of 2016, the
Sentinels again reached the Championship game only to lose to the
one-and-done Benton Bulldawgs.
2017 and 2018 saw the Sentinels lose in the playoffs enroute to 5-2 and
3-4 season records respectively.

The 2019 Sentinels looked to be steamrolling their way to destiny by
defeating defending champion South Lane in week 4 and moving to
5-0 with a 70-0 mashing of Crook County. However, the hiccups
started with a shocking 12-6 defeat at the hands of winless Willamette
Valley, and a second loss two weeks later to Central Oregon. Still
earning a #2 seed in the playoffs, the nearly three week layoff took
it's toll as Rip City bounced the Sentinels from the semi finals with a
3-0 defensive effort.

Following the season, the team was rebranded as the Rose City Swarm
under new ownership and coached by Jeff Barker, formerly of the Rip City
Mafia. Covid-19 shutdowns in Oregon wiped the entire PNFL schedule
and the Swarm had to remain idle.
2021 opened with high expectations of a PNFL season, but once again,
Oregon government officials shut down sports and the Swarm season was
scrapped. However, the Swarm did sneak into Washington in May for
two games against WSFL foes and came away victorious in both instances.
2022 opened with high expectations once again, opening the season with a
victory over Emerald City to extend the win streak to 3 games.
Then tragedy struck when Joe Ashby, beloved lineman passed unexpectedly.
The game with the Trojans was canceled as the team attended the funeral.
The Swarm could not find a groove again, finishing out 1-6.
