Marv "Tommy Gun" Tommervik

Marv Tommervik, one of the best receivers out Pacific Lutheran was one of the "Marvelous Marv's" together with another former 'Lute, Marvel Harshman

With the Indians, Tommervik was the gun slinger passing and rushing for touchdowns as well as kicking field goals.  Marv finished the 1946 Pacific Coast League season as the leading passer with 989 yards and 14 passing scores to go with a rushing and a receiving TD.  The former two-time little All-American was the nation's top passer among all college athletes in 1941.

Al Davies offered Tommervik and Harshman $2000 to sign with the Indians rather than the AAFC's New York Yankees. 

Last season (1945) Tommervik and Harshman led the San Diego Navy to a 33-6 victory over unbeaten USC. and following his discharge in October 1945 was hired as PLU's assistant basketball coach and this season (1946) hired as Athletic Director.  In 1942 he was the star of the Pasco Naval Air Reserve team serving 3 years in the Navy during the war.

In that 1945 game against the USC Trojans, Tommervik passed for 3 TDs (12, 30, 33), ran for 2 TDs (15, 66) and finished 9 of 18 passing for 188 yards with one INT as he led the San Diego Navy to victory.
