With the shut down of the Valley Rangers, many former players found their way to the newly formed Boise Aztecs inaugural 2018 season finishing 3-6 with a 43-0 playoff exit at the hands of the Boise Oilers. The Aztecs opened the 2019 season with back-to-back scrimmage games with the Gem State Guardians and Magic Valley Bulldawgs reportedly winning the latter 56-6. With the loss of the Sharks from the schedule, much of April was lost with only one game against the Trojans. The Aztecs would struggle into the playoffs with a 3-3 record only to be dropped by the Trojans for a third time on the season. Five players earned 1st Team all-league honors led by running back Jacob Swain, the 2019 ICFL MVP. 2020 started out with a defensive stalemate against the Pacific Northwest League Douglas County Timberwolves out of Oregon prior to the Covid-19 shut downs. Restarting in June, the Aztecs finished 4-2 before falling to eventual West Division champions and defending Idaho Contact League champion Black Tide. Running back Paul Johnson was the only 1st Team selection after rushing for 681 yards and 9 TDs. The Aztecs earned an invite to Utah to face the Wasatch Revolution in the Pacific Northwest Invite Bowl Game falling 56-20. The 2021 season quickly went downhill after having high expectations in the offseason. Eight consecutive losses ensued, however the ICFL offered up the "Toilet Bowl" pitting the two teams with the worst records in each of the East and West Divisions. The Aztecs broke the win column defeating the Wolfpack for the only win of the season. With nowhere to go but up, the 2022 season ended with a 4-5 record, ousted from the playoffs by the Black Tide. Coach Alex Wilson earned ICFL Coach of the Year for the impressive turnaround, and Colt Knigge was named ICFL MVP. Ten Aztecs earned All-League nods on the season. Fresh off the upswing turnaround, the Aztecs continued their steady growth in 2023 with a much improved defense and an offense that scored the most points in a single game in franchise history. Boise claimed their spot in the upper echelon taking the Black Tide into a double-overtime game in week three, and avenged a week one 12-6 loss to the Idaho Matadors in the regular season finale. The playoff game was a rematch with the Matadors ended in heartbreak and a 14-6 loss mirroring the opening week. Alex Wilson was named to his second ICFL Coach of the Year honor and twelve players made the ICFL All-League teams. Moving to make that bitter taste of 2023 go away, the Aztecs once again showed great defense and a potent offense in 2024 enroute to an 8-0 record. The opener with the Matadors was a test, but the Aztecs came out on top 9-6 to open the season, then set another franchise points record the following week in a 78-0 blow out over Gem State. The big test came in a week eight showdown with the Black Tide, a team the Aztecs had never defeated. The highly anticipated ICFL battle ended with a 22-12 victory and the Aztecs in control of the league. It would come down to the Matadors once again in the 2024 ICFL title game, and the pressure was too much as the Aztecs suffered their only defeat in the season-ender 26-6, one game shy of claiming the elusive crown.
