Lakewood spent it's inaugural season in the upstart Washington
State League where it was booted from the league in early June after
on-field incidents during a clash with the
Eagles.
In an odd and questionable move, the Lions were granted membership
into the Western Washington Football Alliance for the 2018 season
after having gone 0-2 versus WWFA competition the year before to
teams with a combined record of 10-12 on the season.
Opening the 2018 season against the Raptors,
the Lions bombed their former league members 50-0, however they were
subsequently bombed themselves in their next two outings by league
powers Portland and
Wenatchee. A loss for the
second-straight year to the formerly 8-man
Kitsap Storm ended the Lions run as the team folded up shop
forfeiting the remainder of the season. Two seasons, two
leagues, two schedules forfeited during the second-half of the
season.
In 2021 after coaching with the Tacoma
Sabers, it was announced former coach William Conrad and former
owner Zach Fisher had formed the Grit City
Knights with intentions of playing in the Gridiron Developmental
Football League (GDFL) for 2022.
