The Skagit Valley Raiders had folded up it's tent after 15-years back in
1987, but in 1989 the "Raiders" moniker was resurrected in Federal Way
for a one season venture.
The team opened with tryouts on June 3 at Fort Dent playfield and when
the July 30th opener came around, the team had combined with another
start-up team, the Mason County Grizzlies that failed to get much
traction. The combined team lost to the Blue Knights 27-0
and was completely dismantled by the Pierce County Bengals the following
week 62-0.
The Seattle Raiders would struggle and be replaced the following season
by the Federal
Way Jets built by Ken Austin into a regional powerhouse by
the early 2000's after his departure from the Pierce County Bengals.
QB Michael Goodall would make his way to the Bengals for the 1990 season
behind Sean Sehlin.
